Tasting Note
Deep red. Primary aromas of blackberry and boysenberry are highlighted with elements of couverture chocolate and freshly turned soil. The full-bodied palate is brimming with ripe, black berry fruit, complemented with fine tannins, an earthy minerality and savoury notes. A perfectly balanced and seamlessly integrated wine that expresses the essence of the vine, the time, the place and the harsh, black cracking clay over limestone soils that make up this unique corner of the Davey Estate Vineyard.

This is to type, for those drinkers expecting a fully loaded shiraz, brimming with scents of violet, blue-fruit allusions, licorice, baking and assorted spices. And yet it is not a caricature. Conversely, the texture is creamy and salubrious, without any obtuse angles or jarring acidity. The finish billows long across the palate, staining every pore. Big and robust, but plenty fresh.
